BOA MISTURA IN CAPE TOWN / English text at the bottom

Hola a todos.

Boa Mistura, el monstruo de las cinco cabezas, diez brazos y un sólo corazón ha llegado a Sudáfrica.
Para los que no nos conocen, Boa Mistura (del portugués Buena Mezcla), es un colectivo con raíces en el graffiti que ha ido ampliando su radio de acción hasta disciplinas lejanas: www.boamistura.com.

Hace 3 semanas no había nada planeado. Surgió la chispa, la conexión entre BOA MISTURA y el programa de residencia A WORD OF ART, dirigido por Ricky Lee Gordon, director de la galería con el mismo nombre, quién nos invitó a venir. Como el amor a primera vista que no puede esperar. Madrid-Sudáfrica.

Y aquí estamos, en el corazón del barrio de Woodstock, Ciudad del Cabo. Empezando a pintar murales en este barrio industrial que está sufriendo un interesante proceso de transformación. Humildes viviendas, fábricas vacías, naves industriales reconvertidas en epicentros artísticos como este nº66 de Albert Street donde nos alojamos y que alberga un amplio número de artistas y jóvenes inquietos.

En los próximos días  participaremos en el proyecto Write on Africa, en el que realizaremos acciones sociales en los Townships, zonas de aislamiento resulantes del apartheid. También formaremos parte del I SA Community Mural Project, cuyos resultados serán expuestos en el Toffie Festival, que tendrá lugar en el Cape Town City Hall. En este festival daremos una conferencia exponiendo nuestro trabajo. Toda la experiencia quedará recogida por las cámaras del joven director Luis Sánchez Alba (Certain Risks), que nos acompañará durante el viaje.

Boa Mistura, the monster of the five heads, ten arms and one heart has arrived to South Africa.

For those who do not know us, Boa Mistura (from portuguese good mixture) is a group with roots in graffiti that has been expanding its range to distant disciplines: www.boamistura.com

3 weeks ago there was nothing planned. It arose a spark, the connection between Boa Mistura and the residency program A WORD OF ART, led by Ricky Lee Gordon, head of the gallery with the same name, who invited us to come. Like love at first sight, can not wait. Madrid-Cape Town in a moment.

And here we are at the heart of Woodstock, Cape Town.

We are starting to paint murals in the industrial district which is experiencing an exciting transformation process. Humble homes, empty factories, warehouses converted into artistic  epicenters like this, at No.66 Albert Street where we are staying, and which hosts a large number of young and restless artists.

In the upcoming days we will participate in the project Write on Africa. We will carry out social actions at the townships (areas resulting from segregation during the apartheid). We are also part of the "I SA Community Art Mural Project ", which pieces will be exhibited at Toffie Pop Festival that will take place in Cape Town City Hall. In this festival we will give a conference explaining our work. 

The whole experience will be recorded by the cameras of the young director Luis Sánchez Alba (Certain Risks), who will accompany us during the trip.
